Kyiv Independent: Russia plans to send children to summer camp in North Korea | News in brief

The children’s trip to the North Korean summer camp is already planned for the end of July.

Russia is planning to send children to the Sondovon summer camp in North Korea. This was reported by the Ukrainian Kyiv Independent news site by Leader of the pro-Kremlin Movement of the First youth organization in Russia Grigory Gurov on Saturday. The source of Kiev Independent is the Russian state-owned news agency Tass.

The summer camp announcement is the result of the strategic partnership agreement signed by Russia and North Korea last week. According to Gurov, a trip to a North Korean children’s camp has already been planned for the end of July. Russia sends groups of children with instructors to North Korea.

– We are now planning joint camps. We are planning to exchange children, Gurov said.

Gurov compared Sondovon to the Artek summer camp on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula. Earlier in June, the European Union imposed sanctions on Artek because Russia brings children there from the occupied territories of Ukraine.

In Ukraine, Russia’s plans to send children to North Korea are causing concern, as the Russian occupation regime in Crimea has taken Ukrainian children to Artek’s re-education programs in order to raise them according to Kremlin propaganda.

According to Gurov, Russia is also planning children’s visits to China and Vietnam later this year. The purpose is also to conclude agreements with youth organizations in other countries.
