Johan Kuylenstierna becomes new Director General of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. This is announced by Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokhtari (L) at a press conference.
Kuylenstierna, 60, has been Director General of the State Research Council Formas since 2022. He has also previously chaired the Climate Policy Council and has worked within the UN and is an honorary doctor at Stockholm University.
As Director General of the Climate Policy Council, Kuylenstierna expressed himself critically against the climate policy of the then government.
– The climate change has achieved steering speed. But we do not reach the goals of current politics. It goes too slowly, Kuylenstierna said.
