Masterson’s former colleagues from “That ’70s show”, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, apologize, in a video on Instagram, for the letters they wrote to the court on behalf of the former colleague. In the letters, they described Masterson as a person who treats others “with decency, equality and generosity” and as “an outstanding role model and friend” and a “big brother figure.”
Since the letters became public, Kutcher and Kunis have been criticized for vouching for Masterson’s character in the hope that the judge would sentence him to a lighter sentence.
Kutcher says in the video that the letters the couple sent were intended for the judge to read and not to undermine the victims’ testimony or re-traumatize them in any way.
— We would never want to do that and we are sorry if it has happened.
Kunis says in the video that the couple is on the side of the victims.
