Rawa Majid has been protected by a Turkish police chief in Istanbul.

This is claimed by a source regarded as credible by the Swedish police.

– The person is so credible that you can go to the prosecutor and court and be granted secret coercive measures with this information, says a person with insight into the criminal investigations.

A week ago, Aftonbladet was able to reveal how top-secret information handed over to Turkey ended up with criminals in Sweden.

A police report that would stop Rawa Majid’s progress instead appeared on a mobile phone belonging to his network.

Swedish police considered the operation cleared and suspected that the leak took place in Turkey.

Aftonbladet’s revelation has attracted a lot of attention in Turkey, where several opposition politicians have now demanded that the circumstances surrounding Rawa Majid’s citizenship be investigated. The question of who is actually protecting Majid has been raised with the Turkish parliament.

High credibility

According to information to Aftonbladet, that protection may come from the Turkish police.

The information that Rawa Majid has been protected by a police chief in Turkey comes from an informant whom Swedish police consider to have high credibility.

According to the police’s own scale, credibility is at the second highest level. This means that the source is almost as credible as if a police officer himself had observed something and reported it.

– This means that the source is so reliable that you can go to prosecutors and courts and get secret coercive measures granted with this information, says a person with insight into the criminal investigations surrounding Rawa Majid.

– According to this informant, the chief of police protects him. There are also more informants than this one who have given the same information. It is extremely serious. The activity that Rawa Majid is suspected of is a systemic threat.

Hundreds of millions

In recent days, there have been reports that Rawa Majid is under pressure due to the internal conflict in the Foxtrot network. According to information to SVT, Rawa Majid is now crowded and has shielded itself from former allies.

According to Aftonbladet’s information, Rawa Majid previously lived a life of luxury in Turkey and moved in the Maslak district. It was in Maslak that open street shooting recently broke out, in a showdown linked to Rawa Majid’s network “Foxtrot”. The district is Istanbul’s commercial center with entertainment venues, exclusive restaurants and luxury hotels.

– He has been good for several hundreds of millions of kroner. We have credible information that confirms that, says a police source to Aftonbladet.

“Increases their ability”

The source states that there must have been a cash box with money that people in the Foxtrot network had to borrow from when necessary. The supply of capital that the group had to move with has been described as unreasonably large, despite the extensive drug sales.

– It seems that some outside actor is providing the group with almost unlimited amounts of weapons, drugs and money in order to increase their capabilities, says the police source.

According to SVT, there is information that Majid “has had protection from a higher place in Turkey” during his time in Turkey.

The Turkish journalist Mehmet Güc also makes, after Aftonbladet’s disclosure that a leaked police report, the assessment that Rawa Majid has contacts at a high level.

– All this indicates that he has contacts at a very high level within the Istanbul police and at the Ministry of the Interior, says Mehmet Güc.
