Kurdish forces agree on a ceasefire in northern Syria with

The commander of the Kurdish forces said, according to al-Jazeera, that the goal of the forces is to stop fighting elsewhere in Syria and to participate in the political process in the country.

In northern Syria, the US-backed Kurdish SDF forces announced early Wednesday that they had reached a ceasefire agreement with the Turkish-backed SNA forces.

Commander of the SDF forces Mazloum Abdi announced that the United States acted as mediator in the negotiations.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring organization that follows the war in Syria, says that at least 218 people have died in the fighting over the course of three days.

The rebels have been fighting in the eastern part of the country against the SDF forces. It is not yet known how the recent ceasefire agreement signed by the SDF in Manbij, Syria, might affect the situation in the eastern part of the country.

According to Al-Jazeera, a rebel representative said late Wednesday night that rebel fighters have continued to advance in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor after capturing the city of Deir ez-Zor.

Countless groups are fighting for control of Deir ez-Zor province, reports al-Jazeera.
