Sipan organizes the care of Syrian families for the Kurdish Red Crescent. Refugees in their own countrythey are particularly vulnerable. “ The journey from Lebanon to northeast Syria is too longhe said, and these refugees are mostly children, pregnant women or elderly people… Their situation is delicate when they arrive in our area. »

More than 17,000 refugees have now returned to northeast Syria. Some have nowhere to go, Sipan continues: “ We have counted around forty families who come from Sérékanié, but for the moment, they cannot return home, so we have to place them in camps. »

An area isolated from the rest of the world

Return impossible to Sérékanié controlled by Turkey. So these families join the camps already overcrowded by years of war. “ We are already encountering many difficulties in these camps… If the number of refugees returning from Syria increases, it is certain that the situation will be delicate. They will need to be offered shelter, they will need medical assistance and food. Everything will depend on the number of people who will arrive. »

Northeast Syria is isolated from the rest of the world. To cope, the Red Crescent is mobilizing the solidarity of its inhabitants. “ We are launching a fundraising campaign to offer assistance to all those who will arrive in the coming days », concludes Sipan.

Until then, the Red Crescent is preparing, taking inventory of the places available in the camps for these Syrian families without solutions.
