Kuopios KalPa gets a new head coach Sports in

Petri Karjalainen will not continue at the helm of the Kuopio club after this season.

Ice hockey championship league club Kuopio KalPa has announced its head coach for next season. The new commander-in-chief is 33 years old Sami Tervonen.

The contract is for two years.

This season, he has been KalPa’s head coach Petri Karjalainen. A year ago, he led KalPa to the semi-finals.

– The discussions with “Pete” were held in a good spirit and we have known about his own desire to move on after the season for a long time, sports director Anssi Laine commented in the announcement.

Before his KalPa period, Tervonen was in Vaasan Sport’s coaching group.

– Sami is a natural choice for the next head coach on our coaching path. It is very important for us to stick to the club’s identity and way of playing. Sami has played a big part in building and shaping our way of playing and now he gets to further develop it, as well as take the whole club forward as head coach.
