Kuopio Palloseura has received many contacts from those who want to coach the team. KuPS said on Friday that the head coach Simo Valakarin the contract has been terminated.
– The interest in the task has been really huge. You can say that there have been dozens of contacts. We have a clear vision and strategy that has been behind all the confusion all along, says Kuopio Palloseura’s board chairman Markku Raatikainen.
Raatikainen does not comment on whether negotiations with new coaching candidates are ongoing. At the same time, he states that the interest in the club is strong not only from the direction of the coaches, but also from the players, because through Kuopio Palloseura it has been possible to make an effort to reach bigger circles.
According to Raatikainen, the coach issue will be resolved as soon as possible. The first official match in the Liigacup will take place in two weeks. The football league starts at the beginning of April, which is 2.5 months away.
The Kuopio ball club now has 20 contracted players. According to Raatikainen, everyday life is fine and training is going full blast all the time. He thinks the team’s body is strong and with the last moves they want to find sharpness.
– Yes, realistically, we are going to play for at least a medal. Certainly the attacking end needs width and maybe to some extent the bottom floor as well. We have a very strong midfield manning and goalkeeping department, says Raatikainen.
