Kristine Stavås Skistad’s new cocky gesture towards the Swedes – now explains with a huge sneer: “I was surprised”

Kristine Stavå’s Skistad broke the Swedes – and responded with yet another mocking gesture.
Afterwards she explained why.
– I was a little surprised, says Skistad.

There have been hot feelings between the Swedish sprint stars and Norwegian superstar Kristine Stavå’s Skistad this season. Sweden has the world’s best sprinters, but Skistad has been one of the few who could threaten Linn Svahn, Jonna Sundling and the others – and she has often and gladly pointed that out.

New cocky gestures

When Stavås Skistad broke the Swedes earlier in the season, she responded with sloppy kisses and various outings in the media and on her Instagram, and this weekend it was time again. When Lahti’s sprint was decided, Skistad was pitted against three Swedes, Jonna Sundling, Linn Svahn and Maja Dahlqvist, in the final – and it was never very exciting.

Kristine Stavås Skistad had a total playhouse and won the competition by far. It was her eighth career World Cup victory, and before crossing the finish line she chose to once again make a mocking gesture towards her rivals. Skistad turned around, and when she crossed the finish line she shrugged. Afterwards she explained why.

– I was a little surprised that it went so easily today. So I expressed it well, says Skistad to SVT.

The Swedish answer

When Skistad has made similar gestures during the season, it has led to angry faces in the Swedish camp. However, Jonna Sundling did not take offense this time.

– She was probably a little extra pleased. She wins anyway, so she must be allowed to do that, says Jonna Sundling.

The win was also important for Kristine Stavå’s Skistad for the overall World Cup. Linn Svahn still leads the sprint cup, with 1057 points. With the win in Lahtis, Stavås Skistad is up to 879 points, with two remaining sprints in the season.

– I don’t think I have a chance there, but I will do my best, says Stavås.
