Kristine Stavås Skistad’s gigantic disappointment after the fiasco in Tallinn

Kristine Stavås Skistad thought about revenge after the World Cup silver at home in Trondheim.
But she didn’t even move on from the sprint semi in Tallinn – it was a historic failure for the Norwegian.
– I smoke on stupid things. It’s just unnecessary, she says in Viaplay.

She stepped into the ski World Cup as an excited gold favorite. According to Kristine Stavås Skistad26, at least it was her to beat. It was true in itself … for Jonna Sundling30, was the only one who went in goal ahead of the Norwegian and she won the gold as you know.

Historically bad by Stavås Skistad

When it was again sprint on the competition schedule in the World Cup, during Wednesday evening in Estonian Tallinn, Stavås Skistad was ready to take revenge after the failure in the World Cup. The fact that Sundling was also missing due to a cold, of course, only increased the Norwegian chances of winning.

Once it was time for the semi -finals she went after leading Maja Dahlqvist30, all the way to the goal. She kept the Swedish back, but then suddenly the American came Julia Kern27, and sprinted past Stavås Skistad. In other words, she missed the final. It was the first time in a very long time that she failed with it. She had 25 straight advancements from semi -finals for the World Cup competition in Tallinn, but bombed on the 26th attempt.
– I completely missed the last turn. It is sad when I really feel good and have control, but then I make a mistake. It should not happen. Just a very tactical mistake, I can only blame myself, she says in Viaplay afterwards.
– I smoke on stupid things. It’s just unnecessary.

Stavås Skistad gets one last chance

So it was a gigantic disappointment for Kristine Stavås Skistad not to even move on to the final, now that neither Jonna Sundling nor Linn Svahn25, was in the starting field. Instead it was the World Cup three Nadine Fähndrich29, who won while Maja Dahlqvist and Julia Kern came second and third respectively.
– It is the first time in history that she has been knocked out in the semi -finals. She has moved on to the final 25 times, but in the 26th attempt it was not possible, says the Viaplay commentator and sports historian Jörn Sundby.
