Just a week or so before the World Cup premiere in Finnish Ruka, it was clear that the Norwegian sprint star Kristin Stavås Ski City25, would be forced to stand over due to spontaneous stomach surgery. However, her comeback came much earlier than expected. Unfortunately, it ended in failure.
Back after the fiasco in Lillehammer
Stavås Skistad already went out in the quarter-finals of the sprint in Lillehammer. She became absolutely furious and left the arena. Since then, there has been silence about the sprint star. She has been training on her own and not talking to the media.

On Thursday, she was back on track again when she competed in the NM (Norwegian Championships) in Hamar. Then she commented on the fiasco in Lillehammer.
– It took two days to get over it, but now I feel good again. It was too early to start in Lillehammer. The head wanted to, but the stomach couldn’t handle it, she tells NRK.
Stavås Skistad’s words to the Swedish rivals
In the sprint qualifying in the NM, Stavås Skistad was involved in a new drama. One of her poles broke early and she was forced to run a distance with only one pole. She then got a new one, but threw it away and got another new one. Despite being really angry after the finish, she came eleventh in the prologue.
– I have never experienced anything like this before. I rode without a pole all the way and if it lasts to the quarter finals, it’s insane. It won’t work, she says.

Kristine Stavå’s Skistad finally won the entire sprint and took NM gold in front Helene Marie Fossesholmwho also had problems with injuries during the preseason. After the win, she sent a cocky pass to the Swedish rivals Jonna Sundling, Lynn Svahn, Johanna Hagström, Emma Ribom and Maja Dahlqvist.
– It was nice to get this result. For me this was the start of the season and I got a good pass and felt stronger every race. The golden dream is alive!, she says and smiles.
