Kristine is one of the few riders during the ski World Cup who competes completely without ski goggles. Which surprises all Norwegian ski experts.
-It’s very special, says the NRK expert Fredrik Aukland in a television statement.
– It’s used to protect the eyes. It is to make you look better when there is strong sunlight, rain and snow or when it is very cold outside. There is a reason why you wear glasses, it is not because it looks good. It can be said that in some cases it inhibits riders not to use glasses.
Kristine explains
If you ask Kristine Stavås Skistad yourself, it is instead an advantage not to go cross -country skiing with ski goggles.
– I’m not the glass eye type, I’ve never been. I have no problems with it and I think it is much better to drive without. So I enjoy it, she tells NRK and admits she will never put on ski goggles.
– I was born not to wear glasses, so I think it’s best.

Former top rider Martin Johnsrud Sundby Also amazed at Skistad’s total ban when it comes to the glasses.
– It’s a strange refusal to have. Glasses have never hurt you. They can certainly make sure you optimize an achievement. There may be some lighting conditions where you read the terrain much better with a couple of good lenses, says Johnsrud Sundby, who is now a Norwegian ski expert in NRK.
– I felt incredibly uncomfortable without glasses, especially during longer distances with minus degrees. When it comes to Kristine, she doesn’t go for long at a time. She has not experienced three miles with minus fifteen degrees in top speed yet, so there may be something in what she says. But I almost always put on glasses when I exercise.
