Norwegian sprint star Kristine Stavås Skistad has had to undergo surgery on her stomach and misses the start of the season.
Now national team doctor Ove Feragen tells us when she is expected to be back.
– Kristine has to endure normal training before she can compete, he tells VG.
The 25-year-old Norwegian is still the biggest threat to the Swedish skaters ahead of the season. Lynn Svahn, Jonna Sundling, Maja Dahlqvist and Emma Ribom have all gone hard fighters against Kristine Stavå’s Ski City earlier – now they don’t have to face her in the world cup premiere in Ruka.
Then Kristine can be ready
It was last Friday that Stavås Skistad was forced to have stomach surgery a little hastily. On Tuesday, NTB was the first to report on the Norwegian nightmare report. Now it is free for the Swedes in Ruka.
– It is a slap in the face to have such a bump in the road now just before the season. Kristine has worked through adversity in the past and now those qualities must be used again, says her coach Created by Sofienlund to VG.

It is fully confirmed that she will miss the Norway premiere in Beitostølen November 22-24 as well as the World Cup premiere the following weekend. She has to recover from the operation and then start exercising a little bit. The national team doctor Ove Feragen tells VG that he thinks it may be relevant to make a comeback first before the NM (Norwegian Championships) which runs from January 15-19 next year.
– We have a hope and goal that she will be in normal training in December. It is realistic. But Kristine has to endure normal training before she can compete, says Feragen.
Stavås Skistad looks towards the WC
Now she must first train in rehab for a longer period. At first she will only be allowed to go for walks, then she will be allowed to start using a spinning bike before it becomes a bit more normal exercise. There is not much she can do about the situation. She must like the situation and direct her focus to the WC in Trondheim instead.
– Kristine has to accept that she will have a different start to the season. But it is the WC that is important this season where we hope she will fight for the gold, says Ove Feragen.
CHRONICLE: We Swedes should be happy about Kristine Stavå’s Skistad’s failure

Last season, Kristine Stavå’s Skistad won five competitions in the World Cup and she stepped onto the podium a total of eleven times. Since the season ended, she has hardly been seen in public. She has not trained together with the other Norwegian national team skaters and has not done any interviews during the pre-season.
Nice to hear that there is no major danger with Stavås Skistad. While it’s not fun in any way that she’s gone, it probably won’t be that long. Get fit and train when you feel better, Kristine.
