It is the major roads that are prioritized when the Swedish Transport Administration sets up speed cameras.
In the small community Silvåkra, outside Lund, accommodation is tormented by cars that drive well over the 30 limit.
Now Kristina Villyke has had enough of the speeds – and started filming them.
Silvåkra is located a bit outside Lund in Skåne. Here, a winding 30 road goes through the village and there it is constantly driving too fast according to residents. Kristina Villyke is one of everyone who is tired of the speeds.
-There is no respect, they drive for 60-70 kilometers per hour. If there is an oncoming traffic they still do not slow down and then you have to run for life, she says.
Expensive with speed camera
She and her family have lived there for 16 years and describe it as a constant struggle with the authorities to overcome the problem. The police confirm for TV4 News that they are doing speed checks on the route and that there is speeding.
Most preferably, Kristina Villyke would see a speed camera or speed barrier, which can be difficult to get according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
– Speed camera is an effective measure that we know works. They are expensive and we cannot set up as many as the police must be able to look at all the pictures. We get a certain allocation every year, but right now many go to the major roads where there is the biggest problem, says Johan Ekström, who is an action planner at the Swedish Transport Administration in Malmö.
Films the runners themselves
Now Kristina Villyke has started filming those who drive too fast – and she posts the movies on Facebook.
– It’s a scream for help. We have fought, appealed and sent movies to various companies, whose drivers drive too fast, but they do nothing. Our police reports and reports to the Swedish Transport Administration for 16 years have not led to anything. It had to be so, a scream, a provocation and then I have to take the bang. But the authorities must do something.
She shows several mobile films, everything from trucks to trucks are included. It also happens that motorists get cursed when she either waves to them because they drive too fast or because she is filming as they drive too fast through the village.
– The young people tend to be very nice and apologize when driving too fast. But the adults, especially men, can be said to have a culinary language that is very unpleasant, scary and threatening.
