Tappara’s serving machine in the battle for the top of the ice hockey SM league Christian Tanus showed its strength when kirvesrinna took the points from Kuopio by 4-1.
Tanus gave a decisive pass to each of Tappara’s goals and thus made the score 0+4. The strongest superiority in the league produced results twice, when Tapparan Brother Matti Savinainen and Aapeli Räsänen both of them flashed the puck into the net in front of the goal from Tanus’ passes.
Even the weakest superiority in the league got to celebrate when KalPa’s star player Patrick Curry with this shot of the puck into the net in the second period.
Clinical Tappara, however, increased the lead in the final set Otto Leskinen by hitting Savinainen scored his second goal of the evening into an empty net.
TPS increased the Pelicans’ pain
The difficulties of Pelicans, who started the season with the most significant investments, continued when Turku Palloseura took the points with goals 5–3.
In the match, the situations changed depending on the sets, and in the opening set Pelicans were in serious trouble. TPS already took a 3–0 lead in three minutes Eetu Päkkilän, by Jean-Cristophe Beaudin and Otto Salini with goals.

The first season of the Pelicans, who won the championship silver last season, has been difficult. Lahti’s player budget of three million euros is the fifth largest in the SM league, but the league ranking is the third last.
SaiPa’s curse ended
SaiPa’s curse, which had lasted for more than four years, was broken on Wednesday, when it defeated Jukurit with three points worth 5-2. SaiPa, cooling off in a five-match winning streak, already rose to fourth place in the series.
The last time SaiPa had beaten Jukurit by three points was in February 2020, when it took the full points pot from Mikkeli with a score of 1–0. Before Wednesday, Jukurit had won no less than 15 mutual games out of 16 matches.
The people of Lappeenranta got plenty of opening goals of the season, because Ondrej Trejbal, Miro Tauslahti and Mikko Niemelä fired their first. The hit for 20-year-old Tauslahti was also his first in the SM league.
KooKoo’s troubles continued
Kouvola’s KooKoo’s difficult period continued as a guest of Pori Ässie. Ässät, who won 4–1, was sharp in front of the goal and caused Kouvola’s fifth loss out of the previous six matches.
