Kristersson’s message: Sending Bildt to Turkey

On Saturday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will be sworn in for a new term of office. Then Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson chooses to send former Prime Minister Carl Bild (M).

“I have given former Prime Minister Carl Bildt the task of representing Sweden at the inauguration ceremony of Turkey’s re-elected President Erdogan in Ankara tomorrow. Looking forward to strengthening bilateral relations with Turkey”, writes Kristersson in one Twitter posts.

Sweden’s NATO application is expected to be taken up

Carl Bildt has previously been the EU’s mediator in the war in Yugoslavia, and after the Dayton Agreement in 1995 was the so-called high representative of the international community, writes NE.

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg is also visiting Turkey this weekend to attend when Recep Tayyip Erdogan is sworn in for a new term of office. Stoltenberg will also have bilateral talks, according to a press release from NATO.

During the visit, Stoltenberg is also expected to address Sweden’s NATO application.
