Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) says he understands that Governor Anna Kinberg Batra’s actions, which have received strong criticism from the JO, arouse the anger of voters and taxpayers.
– I have every respect for the fact that any suspicion, real or perceived, of abuse in various ways arouses anger.
But at the same time, the prime minister does not want to take a position on whether Anna Kinberg Batra can remain as governor.
– This is very serious criticism. Now the report came just an hour ago, I haven’t even had time to look at the report, says Ulf Kristersson.
– I want to read the report myself and then discuss the matter with the minister responsible.
Ulf Kristersson further says that he is in no rush to make a decision about how the government should act.
– I am not drawing any conclusions today. This came very recently.

Minister responsible for Sweden’s governors, Erik Slottner (KD) is now speaking out about JO’s criticism of Anna Kinberg Batra.
– There is serious criticism directed at the governor in Stockholm. We are now analyzing the decision. We have already said that the governor must take on board the criticism directed at her in a clear way.
– The county administrative boards have an important role in Swedish state administration. It is extremely important that the authority carries out its mission in a way that earns the trust of citizens and employees.
– We have always been clear that it is Anna Kinberg Batra’s responsibility to now restore trust in the County Administrative Board in Stockholm County. The government has confidence in all agency heads until further notice, says Minister of Civil Affairs Erik Slottner
Ida Karkiainen (S), chairman of the Riksdag’s constitutional committee, has difficulty seeing how Anna Kinberg Batra can remain as governor in Stockholm after the JO’s decision.
– JO directs extremely serious criticism at the way Anna Kinberg Batra has acted in these recruitment matters. Now Ulf Kristersson has to answer the question of whether she can stay or not.
What do you think, can she stay?
– I find it difficult to see that she can do it after this serious criticism. I am cautious about demanding the resignation of heads of authorities from the opposition and the Riksdag. But it is difficult to see how the conditions exist for her to stay. If you have destroyed your trust by acting in an authority, it will take a long time to rebuild it.
Now Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) is speaking out after JO’s criticism of Governor Anna Kinberg Batra.
– It’s serious criticism, it’s quite obvious, but I want to read JO’s decision before I have a position on this, he says to P4 Extra.
When asked whether the government continues to have confidence in the governor, the prime minister replies that they have confidence “until you announce otherwise”.
