Kristersson: Freedom costs

It is sometimes said that freedom has no price. And that’s true. But it is equally true that freedom costs, says the prime minister.

He says that Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson and Defense Minister Pål Jonsson were commissioned to prepare the decisions that will be required for a stronger defense.

This year, Sweden spends SEK 143 billion on the defense, a doubling in just a few years.

But not even that will suffice, says Kristersson.

According to the Prime Minister, the investments will require priorities.

This will cost. But Sweden has strong government finances, which allows us to keep a high tempo in the necessary renovation.

We have saved in the barns to afford to face difficult situations. Not all countries can.

However, no “new harmful taxes” will be introduced to finance the defense, according to Kristersson.

The Moderates will also propose a “sharp” increase in daily allowance to Sweden’s conscripts in the government’s budget negotiations.

It’s time to show our appreciation, even in money, for everything they do for our country, says Kristersson and is met by applause.
