As the best Finn, Kerttu Niskanen was ninth in the 15 kilometers of the free skiing style of the World Ski Championships in Planica. Krista Pärmäkoski came in 17th place. Eveliina Piippo from Finland got in between.

The best Finnish speed was held in the women’s 10 km freestyle skiing race at the World Ski Championships in Planica Kerttu Niskanen. The Finn was ninth, behind the winner of the race, the United States About Jessie Diggins 56.6 seconds. It was Diggins’ and the USA’s first World Cup gold in individual cross-country skiing.

Piippo admitted that the difficult conditions basically served him.

– I thought that I would set off reasonably calmly and take it easy. That’s how it went. The climbs were surprisingly tiring when you had to pedal on them. Not a good day by any means, Pärmäkoski said and described the weather as slower than before because of the new snow.

Pärmäkoski could not say about the importance of skiing in the end result of the day, because there was no proper point of comparison.

Pärmäkoski was sixth in the combined distance of the World Championships and together in the pair sprint Jasmi to Joensuu with in the same place. The Finn spoke directly about his level at the World Championships.

– Of course, I would have hoped for better results. Earlier races were shown today. Let’s hope for a miracle that he will return to the next races, Pärmäkoski stated.

Joensuu was 32 on Tuesday.

The women still have a relay race and a traditional 30-kilometer joint start race ahead of them at the World Championships in Planica on Thursday. The Finns still have medal hopes set for both.
