Krista Pärmäkoski was massively superior in the 12 kilometer race. According to Kalle Lassila, it is impossible to say how much the new device affected the huge time difference.

Krista Pärmäkoski was superior as expected in the women’s 12 km free intermediate start race at the Kuopio Suomen Cup. Pärmäkoski, one of Finland’s long-time top skiers, won with a massive margin of two minutes and four seconds before Vilma from Nissi.
– It would have been interesting to compare Kerttu Niskase, if he had been involved. That’s really the only thing left to think about in this race, commentator Jussi Piirainen stated.
Pärmääkoski attracted a lot of attention by using the new mono as well as the binding system. There, the attachment point for the tie is under the stern instead of the bow. The side is higher than in older monos.
The method seems to improve the skating kick.
– I used two kicks and I was sold on it. I have skied three runs, but it convinced me, Pärmäkoski commented before the race.
Pärmäkoski felt that the new method is especially helpful in uphill skiing.
– The slide starts sharper and the ski starts moving faster. The ski doesn’t bite as much when climbing, Pärmäkoski added.
“I wouldn’t go to scoldâ€
Norwegian biathlon star, winner of the world championship at the recently concluded World Championships Sturla Holm Lägreid used that mono and bandage in the World Championships.
– I felt better control of the tip of the ski. When there was loose snow, the tip of the ski could hit it. With the new system, I have better control over the tip of the ski. In theory, you get half a second when you don’t have to steer the ski and have a little better control, Lägreid commented to earlier.
After the race, Pärmäkoski was satisfied with his performance and also with the equipment.
– I wouldn’t start to scold. At least the instruments were in order. Even if the athlete could be rehabilitated..
– Not at all! The equipment worked really well and it was easy to ski. There were grooves in the bill, but they survived. Confident going.
Sports expert Kalle Lassilan according to it is difficult to assess how much mono explained Pärmäkoski’s massive superiority.
– It’s quite a lottery. No one can answer that.
1. Krista Pärmä¤koski 28.55,7
2. Vilma Nissinen +2.04,5
3. Jasmin Kähärä +2.11,4
4. Katri Lylynperä +2.32,6
5. Josefina Böök +2.34,2
6. Vilma Ryytty +2.41,7
Adjusted with heart rate curves
Last week, Pärmäkoski wondered with the physiologist why the heart rate curves seem to be rising.
– Of course, I’ve been training somewhat more and last week I did three hard training sessions. The heart rate couldn’t rise in the race. In exercise, it seemed to be looser. This was a good sign that we are on the right track.
Rented the Ski Team Jasmin Kähärä was third. The absolute surprise of the day was Jämin Jänteen Josefina Böök in fifth place. The 25-year-old skier returned from his year-long competition break in Kuopio.
Böök, who was in pain with various ailments, had competed for the last time last March in the SM Games.
