Over the course of Dragon Ball, Son Goku gathers many friends around him who support him in the fight against evil. One of his longest friendships is with Krillin. However, MeinMMO editor Jasmin Beverungen doesn’t understand why he is even included in the fights. Fillers are taken into account here.
The friendship between Son Goku and Krillin goes back to their childhood. The two meet for the first time as students under Muten Roshi and initially had a bit of a rivalry. But over time a deep friendship developed between the two.
Since then, the little bald man has been an integral part of the Saiyan’s side. Accordingly, he can often be seen in manga and anime. There were numerous moments with him in Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. In newer anime like Dragon Ball Daima, Krillin doesn’t appear as often anymore – and that’s a good thing.
In Battle of the Gods, Krillin still thinks he’s got it:

Krillin is seen a lot, but he doesn’t deserve it
Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball, revealed in one of his previous interviews that he didn’t particularly like Vegeta. He has now become one of his favorite characters. That was incomprehensible to me because Vegeta is one of the coolest characters in Dragon Ball – in contrast to Krillin, who I would have liked to see less of.
If you only take the humans in Dragon Ball, Krillin is one of the strongest fighters. But most of the opponents that Son Goku and his friends have to face come from other planets somewhere in the universe. As the series progresses, their enemies become stronger.
Ordinary people can hardly keep up with that anymore. They do not possess any special characteristics or techniques that would make them excellent fighters in the universe. Yamcha, one of the three strongest fighters on earth, is the best example of this: right at the beginning of Dragon Ball Z he dies against a simple plant man. Over time, he realizes that he can no longer hold a candle to the Saiyans and withdraws into the sport of baseball.
Even Chiaotzu, who dies even less and has a similar stature to Krillin, is hardly seen again over the course of Dragon Ball Z. He stands down in the fight against the cyborgs and instead cooks delicious dishes at Muten Roshi. Tenshinhan even only got an oral story from Toriyama at the end, in which he becomes a farmer.
Krillin doesn’t check until much too late. He only withdraws when he finds his wife for life with C18 and the two have a daughter named Marron. This takes place just before the Majin Buu saga.
Krillin is also the character who dies the most in the entire Dragon Ball series. He dies a total of 5 times (via Dragon Ball Wiki). The first time he dies is against Tamburin, a servant of the evil King Piccolo.
In the fight against Frieza, his death was more useful than his entire contribution to the fight. Because this made Son Goku so angry that he turned into a Super Saiyan for the first time. Thanks to the Dragon Balls, death in the anime isn’t that bad, but Krillin overdoes it time and time again.
Piccolo died a total of 5 times, but he has other strengths, which is why I’m happy to give him some airtime. Since Son Goku isn’t exactly the best father and grandfather, Piccolo often looks after little Son Gohan. This creates a deep friendship between the two that is simply lovely. No wonder Toriyama named him as a favorite character.
On the other hand, I don’t understand how Krillin ended up with such a tough woman like C18. Because the fighter names his own daughter, Marron, after his ex-girlfriend Marron. Only one letter separates the two names. This is also the case in the Japanese original.
Krillin’s ex-girlfriend can be seen on the left and his daughter on the right.
For this reason, Dragon Ball Daima is the absolute highlight for me right now. Son Goku only takes the strongest fighters from the Z-Troop with him into the demon world. Vegeta in particular has come into his own since Dragon Ball Super and is getting more and more airtime because he’s so useful.
It’s a shame that all the other fighters like Tenshinhan and Yamcha aren’t seen as often anymore. But at least the same law now applies to all human fighters. I wouldn’t say I hate Krillin – but I’m glad I don’t have to see him as much anymore.
Despite everything, Krillin also has his positive moments and raison d’être. Personally, I have to say that I prefer all the other Z warriors.

Vegeta is in his full bloom in Dragon Ball Daima. In a recent episode, he climbs to a new level of Super Saiyan. This came as a surprise to many fans – Vegeta was able to transform to this level 10 years ago: Dragon Ball: Vegeta surprises fans with a new form, even though it already existed 10 years ago
