Russia hits back at Joe Biden after the US president called Vladimir Putin “a piece of shit”. The Russian president sourly says on state domestic television that Biden’s words are “completely adequate”.
– Because he can’t say “Well done, Volodya, thank you, your words have helped me”, says Putin and refers partly to the Russian nickname for Vladimir and partly to Putin’s earlier statement that he would rather see Biden than Donald Trump in White the house.
– This only means that I was right, Putin continues.
Earlier on Thursday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had said at a press conference that Biden’s words were “a shame for the entire United States.”
– If a president uses such language, it is shameful. It is clear that Mr. Biden displays a cowboy style worthy of Hollywood that has only domestic purposes.
It was at a charity event in San Francisco on Wednesday that Biden called Putin a “crazy SOB”, short for “son of a bitch”, in Swedish approximately “shit boot”.
Biden has previously called President Putin a “butcher” and “war criminal”.
