Krafth back – Arsenal went on a real blast

The 29-year-old recently got playing time in Newcastle’s reserve team after around 14 months of absence. Next week, Janne Andersson will take out his last squad as national team captain, ahead of the final European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Estonia.

It remains to be seen if Krafth is already eligible for a blue-yellow comeback. The last time Krafth played in the national team was in the Nations League in June 2022.

However, Groin injured Alexander Isak is not available. He is unlikely to play again until the end of the month according to a statement on Tuesday from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe.

Newcastle’s injury list was extended after just two minutes when Matt Targett broke down and was forced to be substituted.

Miguel Almiron gave Newcastle the lead and before the first half Lewis Hall added.

Victor Nilsson Lindelöf was again in United’s starting eleven.

The match is in progress.

Jarrod Bowen celebrates his 3-0 goal as West Ham knocked Arsenal out of the League Cup.

Arsenal, who this weekend face Newcastle away in the league, rested several regular players against West Ham – and fell 1-3 away from home.

Among other things, English national team midfielder Declan Rice started on the bench in the return visit to London’s Olympic Stadium after the summer’s billion-dollar transfer to Arsenal.

Aaron Ramsdale got long-awaited playing time in goal, but conceded a ball after only a quarter of an hour. There wasn’t much he could do about Ben White’s failed effort to head away Jarrod Bowen’s corner. With a good margin, White headed the ball into his own goal.

It would be worse for Ramsdale and Arsenal. Mohammed Kudus increased to 2–0 whereupon Bowen scored to make it 3–0. Rice, Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka came on for Arsenal, but by then it was too late.

Only in added time did late substitute Martin Ødegaard reduce.
