Micronesia, an archipelago country with a population of more than 100 thousand, has prevented the spread of the virus in the country for more than 2.5 years thanks to its geographical isolation, border controls and strict measures. However, the government announced today that there are multiple cases in 2 of the country’s 4 states.
Authorities reported that the test of 35 people in Kosrae state was positive, and 7 cases were detected in Pohnpei state. Thus, it was noted that Kovid-19 turned into an epidemic for the first time in the country.
The outbreak came shortly before the country planned to end quarantine restrictions and reopen its borders on August 1.
TURKMENISTAN DID NOT REPORT A CASE
While almost all countries in the world experienced an epidemic of Kovid-19, the other country with a population of more than 100 thousand and not reporting any cases was Turkmenistan.
In North Korea, which announced the first Kovid-19 case in May, approximately 4.8 million cases have been detected so far. (AA)
