Kouvot Basket does not intend to apply for a Korisliiga license for the 2025-2026 season unless playing conditions improve.
The team from Kouvola, Kouvot, may leave its place in the men’s Korisliiga.
Kouvot Basket says in a press release that Kouvot will not be able to play financially profitably in its home arena in the Mansikka-Aho hall, especially in the future.
According to the club, the reasons are, among other things, the overcrowding of the hall, few ancillary sales points, poor services for corporate guests, and the fact that the hall does not meet all the requirements of the Basketball Association.
The current board of Kouvot Basket oy believes that it is not worthwhile for Kouvot to apply for a Korisliiga license for the season 2025–2026, unless there is a definite message about getting a new hall in the city.
The term of the board changes before the application deadline, so the actual decision on the matter will be made by the subsequent board.
– Kouvot Basket oy wants to emphasize that this action is not a threat to anyone operating in Kouvola, the release says.
Kouvot announces that it will play the ongoing basketball league season as normal.
The discussion is open on 4.10. until 23:00.
