Sweden has had great success in the football World Cup.
But now team captain Kosovare Asllani is roaring.
She is putting her foot down properly after the huge criticism in the WC.
The Swedish women’s national team has exceeded many expectations and made it to the World Cup semi-finals without losing a single match so far. After good victories in the group stage, Blågult has since switched gears properly and delivered two top games in a row in the playoffs.
Asllani’s criticism
First, the Swedes knocked out the world number one USA after a penalty shoot-out in the round of 16, and then they defeated the successful team Japan 2-1 in the quarter-finals. Many blue and yellow players have impressed, but above all they have won as a team and Kosovar Asllani has shown great responsibility when she has taken over the captain’s armband in Caroline Segers absence.

But now “Kosse” vents his great criticism after being confronted by an American journalist during the World Cup. The reason is the tremendous amount of abuse and hatred that the opposing team USA received after the exit against Sweden in the round of 16.

“Talking shit”
Therefore, Asllani raged at the American journalist and felt that the USA team deserved more respect.
– The American national team are pioneers. I mean, they have lifted the sport, opened doors for the rest of society, for the rest of the world. You are first with everything, says Asllani in an interview with the podcast “The Re-Cap Show”.

Kosovar Asllani had enough and thought that the American journalist was “talking shit” after a critical question and therefore wanted to defend the opposing team.
– I had an interview with an American journalist the other day and he talked about so much. I just thought: “How can you ask me this?”. He could ask: “Oh, the whole USA is talking about the American team being finished and la la la”. Then I just said: “Stop talking about the American team”, that’s really what I said, says Asllani in the podcast.

The US women’s national team has never missed a World Cup medal before. At the same time as they have taken several political battles in recent years by fighting for more equality and equal pay for women and men in world football and taking a stand on issues of racism and LGBTQ issues.
– You raise the bar for the sport at every single level, both on and off the pitch. Mainly on the side of the field, says Asllani in the podcast interview and praises the USA team.
– They will definitely come back, they have so much quality in their team. This loss won’t stop them.
