Konsta Helenius decided the victory for the Sabers in overtime

In their last preseason game, Buffalo beat Detroit 4–3 after overtime.

Konsta Helenius gave the Buffalo Sabers a 4-3 overtime win over the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL preseason on Monday. 4.47 minutes of extra time had been played, when Helenius’ shot ended the match.

Helenius, 18, played 51 matches in the domestic league last season in Jukurei’s shirt and collected 14 goals and 22 assists. Buffalo selected the Finnish center as the 14th player in last summer’s NHL draft.

Helenius played more than 21 minutes in the match and shot three times at the goal.

Buffalo’s regular season begins on Friday with a match against the New Jersey Devils in Prague.

In the same match of Detroit Antti Tuomisto picked up one assist.
