There was an attempted murder at the game developer Konami (Silent Hill, Metal Gear). A 41-year-old tried to kill his former boss with a fire extinguisher. The boss (48) goes to the hospital for a week, the perpetrator caught in the act is in custody.
Where did the message come from? The report comes from the Japanese site Livedoor, which refers to a police report from the Tsuiki Police Station. The news reached the English-speaking world through the Siliconera website.
This is what happened there: A 41-year-old Konami employee was caught in the act of attempting to hit his former boss at the company with a fire extinguisher from behind. The employee also caught his boss (48) with the fire extinguisher and inflicted a head injury that will put the former boss in the hospital for about 7 days.
The incident took place at 11 a.m. at Ginza Six, a 56-meter high retail and office building in the heart of Tokyo.
Man says he hit his boss with intent to kill him
What is the man saying? According to the police report, the man said he was bullied by his former boss and therefore hit him with the intention of killing him.
It is said that another Konami employee recognized the man, arrested him on the spot and handed him over to the police.
You know that about the case: According to the report, the perpetrator had worked for his victim but then felt harassed and complained to HR about the boss.
But the Konami company ruled there was no evidence that the boss abused his power to harass the employee. In August 2020, it was decided that the man would be transferred to another team.
What does bully mean? The man did not provide an example of the boss’s alleged abusive behavior. In translation, one speaks of “power harassment”, i.e. exploiting the power relationship that a boss has over an employee.
