At FC Groningen they didn’t think Finnsson was good enough to bring him to the A-selection, but the English Brentford did like him as a left back. He played for one year in the reserves team and then moved to Borrussia Dortmund, where he also played for the reserves. After three years in Dortmund he went to Denmark, to play for Lyngby BK in the highest division, until FC Utrecht signed him.
