The idea is that The Aurora will elevate Scandinavia as a legitimate player in the international arena for collector cars.
We attended a press meeting at Villa Pauli in Djursholm where the event was presented by Filip Larsson from Motikon and Halldora von Koenigsegg.
A world-class event
The ambitions are undeniably grand.
The Aurora will offer collector cars of international class, and combine these with typical Scandinavian features.
Examples include events such as the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and Hampton Court.

A hidden car tax
– Scandinavia is sitting on a large, hidden car treasure of both iconic classics and modern hypercars that deserve to be displayed on the international stage. We want to create a world-class lifestyle event that shows the best we have to offer in the region and that offers entertainment both during the day and in the evening, says Filip Larsson, who is one of the initiators behind The Aurora.
The idea is that The Aurora will become an annual recurring event, and the first edition will be held from 5 to 7 July 2024.
The venue for the event is Norrviken’s gardens outside Båstad, and the program should be both large and varied.

A huge program
One of the event’s most central components is The Aurora Concours, which is described as a “curated beauty contest” where unusual and historically significant cars from international collectors will be exhibited.
The cars will be divided into different classes and judged on how well they reflect the condition and performance in which they left the factory by a panel of judges.
On site during all days of the event, you will also have The Aurora Showfield, which is described as “a living car exhibition” where around 300 cars from all over Europe will be exhibited.

Not just focus on the past
However, the organizers were careful to emphasize that The Aurora is not only some kind of nostalgia trip, but also looks to the future.
For a group of specially invited guests, they will also offer The Aurora Hypercar Experience, which includes an exhibition of the world’s most ground-breaking performance cars at Norrviken.
Participants will also have the opportunity to visit Koenigsegg’s test track and Gripen loft and meet the brand’s founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg.
They also plan to arrange Aurora talks. There, speakers with different backgrounds will talk about everything from the preservation of old classics, to the latest hypercars, and interesting innovations in the automotive industry.
Topics such as synthetic fuels and alternative fuels, as well as the electrification of classic cars, will also be discussed during the event.
