Kobo unveils its very first color e readers

The Canadian company Kobo is showing new ambitions by making changes to its new electric e-readers.

Since its creation in 2009, the brand has focused exclusively on traditional models and devices sold, until now, with black and white screens. But readers recently discovered that the company announced its first e-reader models, the Kobo Libra Color and Kobo Clara Color. Devices that draw inspiration from their predecessors and mark an evolution of the digital reading experience.

The new tablets retain the same characteristics of the old models, namely IPX8 waterproofing, physical page turning buttons, adjustable front lighting and 16 GB storage space. Note that both digital books use E Ink’s Kaleido 3 screen technology, which promises 4096 colors and more saturated colors than the previous generation Kaleido Plus. The Kobo Color is now compatible with the Kobo Stylus 2, allowing users to write by hand.

The different models align with their competitors on the market. The Kobo Clara Color is priced at 159.99 euros and the Kobo Libre Color, for its part, is priced at 229.89 euros. You can now pre-order the new products on the official Fnac website, before a release scheduled for April 30.
