Neeskens’ family has announced via the KNVB that they have been “overloaded” with reactions since the sudden death of the football icon last Sunday in Algeria. “We, as Johan’s family, would like to thank everyone for the heartwarming expressions of support we have experienced in recent days. In these difficult times it brings us comfort to hear how loved Johan was by many,” the statement said.
