Province of Utrecht – GVVV and Spakenburg performed in the first round of the KNVB Cup by both beating professional clubs. The second division team from Veenendaal managed to win 1-0 against the first division team with a goal in the 88th minute. Spakenburg, the club that was also the stunt team of the cup tournament last season, made it 2-1 and 3-1 in injury time against Helmond Sport.
