Less than three months ago, the Riksdag clubbed a new defense decision that will apply for the next five years. The decision meant that the defense budget increased from 125 billion 2025 to 186 billion 2030.
But already the politicians make the assessment that even more money is needed, says SVT’s domestic political commentator Mats Knutson after the Prime Minister’s meeting with all parliamentary party leaders on the security situation.
Requirements from NATO and a Europe that must take greater responsibility for their security are two reasons for the politicians’ assessment.
