“Know he’s thinking about it”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Jonathan Dahlén has signed a monster contract with Timrå.
But the NHL is not out of the question going forward.
– I know he has thoughts about it, says agent Cales Elefalk.

It has been one of the SHL’s big talking points this summer. When it became clear that Jonathan Dahlén would not get a new contract with the San Jose Sharks, clubs in Sweden began to flock around the star, who scored over 70 points in the Hockeyallsvenskan on two occasions during his career.

Written on monster contract

Skellefteå and Luleå were said to be putting forward huge deals, but it was Timrå that won the battle for the star. Dahlén, who scored 22 points in the NHL last year, signed the largest contract in club history, spanning five years. An enormously happy news for Timrå, who now enter the coming season with high hopes.

But the question is how definitive it really is. Players who are dominant in the SHL usually don’t stay very long, and then contract length doesn’t really mean much. Should an offer from the NHL appear, it is impossible for the SHL clubs to do anything. Then it is, in other words, only up to the player himself.

“I know he’s thinking about it”

This is confirmed by Dahlén’s agent, Cales Elefalk, for Expressen.

– All Europeans automatically have the right to break their contracts and move to the NHL, says Elefalk to the newspaper.

And it seems absolutely not impossible that Dahlén chooses to jump on, should such an opportunity arise. The message is rather that Dahlén is looking out from Sweden again.

– It is gratifying to see that Jonathan has chosen to sign a 5-year contract with Timrå, but I know that he has high ambitions and has thoughts on the NHL in the future, says Elefalk.
