“Knew it would be like this…”

Armand Duplantis took a private flight to the competition – and invited Andreas Kramer along.
Then the criticism poured in.
– I knew it would be like that, says Kramer to Aftonbladet.

Armand Duplantis is one of athletics’ absolute biggest stars, with numerous world records on his luggage list. It is therefore not very strange that all the galas and competitions in the world want him there.

Flew private jet

Last week, Armand Duplantis competed in the World Athletics Continental Tour in Ostrava, Czech Republic – and it was clear that Mondo was VIP at the event. Duplantis had a private flight sent to him to get to Ostrava, and on the flight were Duplantis’ girlfriend Desiré Inglander and middle distance runner Andreas Kramer.

For Kramer, it was the first time on a private flight, and it helped him perform at the competition, he believes.

– Yes, I think it was the organizer who solved it somehow. We saved a lot of hours on that, so the conditions for us to perform were shitty, says Kramer to Aftonbladet.

Met with criticism

Pictures of Mondo and Kramer sitting in the private jet were also posted on social media – but not everyone was impressed. Kramer has reportedly received a lot of criticism for his choice to fly private jets, and the impact it has on the environment.

– I also knew I would get that. At the same time… I don’t go directly on trips like this every time, on weekdays I don’t even drive a car. But yes, I knew I would get negative comments, that’s part of it if you do something like this, says Kramer.

However, Kramer believes that many were also positive, and that he does not take the criticism against him to heart. Overall, he thinks it was a great trip.

– It was an experience, for sure. Very nice, he says.
