Klimatklivet receives SEK 100 million in the spring amendment budget.

The government grant will go towards improving the charging options for electric vehicles, according to a press release.

Klimatklivet finances local and regional climate investments.

Now the government wants to create better conditions for the transport sector to switch to rechargeable vehicles instead of using fossil fuels.

The idea is that with the new support, the transition should be accelerated so that the transport sector can reach zero net emissions of greenhouse gases.

– In order for Sweden to reach all the way down to net zero emissions by the year 2045, we need to change and electrify the vehicle fleet. The strengthening of Klimatklivet is central to the government’s work to create conditions for electrification. We are now strengthening both this year’s allocation and the framework for long-term investments, says Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokhtari in the press release.

Klimatklivet has so far financed 141,000 charging points in Sweden.

The budget also proposes an increase in the order authorization for Klimatklivet from SEK six billion to SEK 6.5 billion for five years. It creates the conditions for more large, complex and more long-term climate investments.

The proposal is based on an agreement between the government and the Sweden Democrats.
