Klarna’s sharp appeal to its customers: “Get in touch”

Klarnas sharp appeal to its customers Get in touch

This week, several scam warnings have been received about fraudsters pretending to be calling from the e-commerce company Klarna.

One of Advice and findings readers are warned of an SMS where it is claimed that the recipient is obliged to pay an invoice of SEK 28,000 from the “e-Library”. Another warns of calls where the caller asks the recipient to approve a purchase on Klarna.

Both are attempts at fraud.

Fraudsters pretend to be from Klarna: “Important that consumers pay attention”

Joel Hedinpress officer for Klarna, tells News24 that the company is no stranger to fraudsters who use the Klarna brand.

– Unfortunately, fraudsters try to use our brand, just as they do with big banks and highly trusted Swedish companies, to deceive consumers. It is important that consumers pay attention and do not click on links or call phone numbers, he says.

Klarna today has approximately 85,000,000 active customers and is, in other words, well known, which makes the brand grateful to use to deceive private individuals. Their “try first and pay later” services have been widely used by customers.

– If you are asked to log in, provide personal data or have the slightest doubt, you should contact customer service at the company yourself.

Then the fraudsters take care

Klarna is not alone in having customers who are taken advantage of.

Earlier in November, Postnord’s security manager left Alexis Larsson out with a warning. In connection with Singles day, Black week and Black Friday, there are many fraudsters who take advantage.

“Sweden is one of Europe’s largest e-commerce markets, and during sales periods parcel volumes increase sharply. It is no surprise that fraudsters take advantage of the rush. By sending out fake links and messages, they try to deceive consumers. Therefore, it is important to be healthy suspicious.”, he writes in one press release.
