Since Klæbo has chosen his own training schedule this year, outside of the Norwegian national team, he has had to sign a special agreement with the association in order to compete.
On Friday, a solution had finally been found.
— Yes, the thing is out of the world, says Norway’s cross-country manager Espen Bjervig NRK.
No private sponsors
The conflict between Klæbo and the association is said to have primarily been about sponsorship agreements and image rights. As recently as Wednesday, the team around the cross-country star told us that no agreement was in place.
The new agreement will be about an agreement that is the same as all skaters who do not belong to the A national team but are selected for the World Cup sign.
— Then they have to wear our clothes and relate to our commercial commitments and rights. But they don’t have the opportunity to have a private logo on the clothes, says Espen Bjervig.
“Surprising”
Thus, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo cannot show off his private sponsors while he represents the national team in the World Cup. However, he is free to do so between competitions.
— This came as a surprise, even though it was one of the options last spring. I have always been clear that I want to go to the World Cup, and I hope that this can become a reality, says Klæbo about the new agreement, writes NRK.
Klæbo has won the overall World Cup in the last two seasons.
