In 2019, Game of Thrones ended with the controversial 8th season. Since then, numerous spin-offs have been announced. Plan now HBO also has a Jon Snow series starring Kit Harington, which would take place after the Season 8 finale of Game of Thrones. That promises one thing: familiar faces from the main series.

This is known about the new Game of Thrones series starring Jon Snow

In an exclusive report from The Hollywood Reporter, we learn the following about the Jon Snow series:

  • It is a live action series.
  • Jon Snow is said to be the focus of the series.
  • Kit Harington is in talks to return to his most famous role.
  • The series is called the first sequel to Game of Thrones described, so it takes place after the finale, in which Jon sets out with the wildlings into the world beyond the wall.
  • There is no information about the staff behind the scenes or the story.
  • The series has not yet been ordered but is in the early stages of development, Deadline confirms.

    So far, HBO has left the finale of the fantasy series untouched. The six other spin-offs from the GOT world all play several years before the plot of Ned Stark, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. The new Jon Snow series, on the other hand, could be something of a unofficial season 9 of Game of Thrones will.

    Theoretically, all survivors from the finale are open to guest appearances, including the Stark sisters Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams), Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) and of course Wildling Tormund (Kristofer Hivju), whose actor is already in 2020 got a glimpse of what Jon’s life will be like after Season 8 (via EW):

    Jon is totally devastated so he needs Tormund to cheer him up by the fire, they warm each other up.

    Should the series travel further south, reunions with Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) and Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) are also conceivable. But it’s also possible that the Jon Snow series is set exclusively beyond the Wall and steers clear of the temptation to retrospectively fix much-criticized parts of the Game of Thrones finale.

    What’s next for Game of Thrones?

    But the Jon Snow series isn’t done yet. The next return to Westeros is on August 22, 2022 on. Then the offshoot House of the Dragon, which plays 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will start in Germany.
