Kissing Booth star Jacob Elordi destroys his own Netflix trilogy: “Feed people shit”

Kissing Booth star Jacob Elordi destroys his own Netflix trilogy

Jacob Elordi is one of the biggest young stars that Hollywood currently has to offer – and by that we don’t just mean his impressive height of 1.97 meters. The Australian is bringing two highly acclaimed projects to cinemas this year: In Priscilla he embodies Elvis. He also stars in Promising Young Woman director Emerald Fennell’s new film, Saltburn.

Jacob Elordi is best known for his work for Netflix, more precisely: his The Kissing Booth films. The teenage schmoozes were reliably among the most viewed content on the platform. However, Elordi is surprisingly disdainful of his early work.

From 2018 to 2021, three parts of the youth book adaptation were released, in which Elordi played the student Noah Flynn. His film partner was Joey King as Rochelle Evans. Together they endure a romance full of ups and downs. In an interview with GQ, Elordi looks back on the three Kissing Booth films and chooses drastic words.

I didn’t want to do those Kissing Booth movies […]. These films are ridiculous. They are not universal. They are an escape.

Elordi has obviously not kept his opinion quiet for a long time. However, he was met with incomprehension. He was told to be grateful. And that he was pretentious. After all, the films were a great success, which many other actors his age would have wished for. Elordi says:

How can it be pretentious to worry about your work? Not to worry and that Knowingly feeding people shitknowing that you’re making money off of people’s time, which is literally the most valuable thing they have – how can that be cool?

The three Kissing Booth films have certainly brought joy to many fans. Jacob Elordi, on the other hand, dismisses them as sins of youth. Perhaps in a few years he will look back on the time in a more forgiving way.

Priscilla by Sofia Coppola will be released in German cinemas on January 4, 2024. Unfortunately, Saltburn has not yet been released in German cinemas.
