Kirsi filmed curious lynx in the garden: “Super cool”

Seeing a lynx, Sweden’s only wild feline, in its natural habitat is very rare. However, Kirsi Hellman has been lucky enough to see it twice. Last Thursday evening, she managed to film a curious visitor in her own garden.
– He seemed super cool – was in no rush at all. He seemed to enjoy himself there, she tells TV4 Nyheterna.

It was last night at half past 8 that Kirsi Hellman, who lives in Nykvarn, looked out of the kitchen window and saw the large locket sitting out in the garden – and it didn’t take long before she picked up her mobile camera and started filming what was unfolding in front her eyes.

– I saw that he walked up to a hammock and started to smell it, and there had just been some hares sitting and chewing. Then he banged on and I moved to another window, says Kirsi.

Started playing with ball

What then unfolds completely surprises her.

– All of a sudden I see that he starts playing with a ball, and I think that’s super cool considering that it’s the World Cup. I was totally ‘wow, awesome!’ and thought that it’s lucky that I don’t have my own animals like cats or something, she says.

Not the first time

Kirsi Hellman doesn’t know how long the lynx was on the property before she spotted it, but it sat on the porch for about three to four minutes while she watched.

After the visit to the garden, the lynx walked up to some juniper trees and smelled, before disappearing up the road and wandering away.

One thing is certain, however, that it was not the first time she was lucky enough to see the wild feline. According to Kirsi, there are a lot of lynx in the area.

– I know that the County Administrative Board has set up some cameras in the area to make inventories, she says.
