12.50 pm: Dinner in Renswoude
The annual village lunch in Renswoude has now come to an end. Members of the Orange Association could sit there with friends or family. After lunch, the King’s Day festival is officially opened.
12.20 pm: Free market Mijdrecht in full swing
There is also a cozy flea market in the center of Mijdrecht, with rugs full of clothes and books and with live music.
12:00: First beers are tapped
The first beer is now a fact in Amersfoort. At a stall in the city you can get beers such as Koning Pils and Jolige Amalia.
11.45 am: Tompoucen already sold out in some places
If you are still looking for a tasty orange tompouce this morning, you might just miss it. At a supermarket, the shelf with the orange tompouces and profiteroles is already empty. The last three crompouces were also just sold at a bakery.
11.25 am: Despite the rain, nice and busy in Houten
The free market at the Castellum shopping center in Houten is pleasantly busy, despite the rain. There is music and there is a long line at a bakery for their orange tompouces.
11.15 am: Sellers stay dry in Vinkeveen
In Vinkeveen, some sellers are lucky this morning. Even during a shower, they and their merchandise remain dry, because they were able to reserve a market stall. Despite the rain, the atmosphere seems to be good with waving orange flags and music from the music association.
11 a.m.: Also aubade in Maarn
Maarn also heralded King’s Day in a musical way. There was some rehearsal before the actual performance.
10.50 am: Stay the night at the flea market for the best spot
Around 7 a.m. you can’t call it busy in the city center of Utrecht, but the first free market goers can already be found there. Some of them even since 12am last night.
9.50 am: Aubade starts in Eemdijk
Eemdijk also turns orange this morning. King’s Day has started in the village with the annual aubade. The mayor was also present.
9.30 am: Children’s parade in Maarn
The traditional children’s parade in Maarn has started. The theme this year is animal gang. The children can dress up as their favorite animal or bring their pet. A winner will be chosen by the jury in the various categories. A drum band is also present at the parade.
7.50 am: Stalls are being set up again
It is not yet very busy in the center of Utrecht, but the first rugs are already being laid out and filled.
