King of Spain on a short visit to his homeland

Former Spanish King Juan Carlos I pays a short visit to his homeland, the royal family announces.

Juan Carlos, 84, will visit Spain from May 19 through Monday. He will live in Sanxenxo, Galicia, and will also meet his son King Felipe VI in Madrid on Monday. The wife of Queen Sofia is not on the trip, but is in Florida, reports El País.

Juan Carlos has been living in exile in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates since 2020, on suspicion of tax evasion. He already abdicated in 2014 in favor of his son.
