King of Queens star Kevin James finds his first action role in 7 years and this time it sounds serious

King of Queens star Kevin James finds his first action

The King of Queens khaki shorts will always be in our minds for Kevin James. In the meantime, however, the comedy star has taken on a remarkably wide range of roles. Most recently, he was seen as a neo-Nazi in the horror film Becky – and was hardly recognizable. He was less fortunate with the Netflix sitcom The Crew: The streaming service canceled the series after one season.

Now James is trying it again in the genre subject: As the Hollywood Reporter reports, the actor has landed a new action film.

That’s what Kevin James’ new action movie is all about

Kevin James next project is called Guns Up. It’s reportedly an action-comedy in which the King of Queens star plays a former police officer and family man who works nights as a hitman for the mafia. When a job goes wrong, the two worlds collide. Kevin James’ character only has one night to get his family out of town. Edward Drake (Vampire Dinner – You Are What You Eat) wrote and is directing.

Will Guns Up be as funny as Department Store Cop?

Kevin James as neo-Nazi in Becky

The plot of Guns Up doesn’t sound particularly funny at all. It is questionable whether the comedy proportion will be as large as that of Der Kaufhaus Cop. Kevin James recently lost a few pounds and put on muscles. With the tougher bald head look, he let himself be seen in an unusually tough role as a neo-Nazi criminal in Becky.

So unlike his previous action forays, Kevin James could really face the serious, physical demands of an Acton film. That would set Guns Up apart from The True Memoirs of an International Killer, which released on Netflix in 2016. And from the action slapstick The Department Store Cop anyway.

It is not certain when Guns Up will be released. There is currently neither a start of shooting nor a cinema date.
