Kimi Antonelli gets to drive his debut in an F1 car this coming Friday. The 18-year-old “Kimi of Italy” drives a Mercedes car in free practice on his “home track”, when the Formula 1 races are held this weekend in Monza.
– Making an F1 debut in front of the home crowd is incredible, Antonelli beamed in the stable news.

According to the rules, every driver must skip one practice on Friday and give space to a more inexperienced driver. Moving to Ferrari after the current season with Lewis Hamilton there will be a break later.
Antonelli, who turned 18 on Sunday, has been rumored to be Mercedes’ second driver for the upcoming season.
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said that the stable had followed Antonelli since he was 11 years old.
– I believe that seeing an Italian in a competitive car at Monza will be something that all Italians can be proud of, Wolff said.
