Many would call what Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been through during his career a curse. He has won league title after league title, trophy after trophy, but never the Champions League. Even though it was stumbling close.
The unexpected words about Ibra
When Zlatan Ibrahimovic traded Inter for FC Barcelona, Inter won the Champions League the following season. When the Swede then switched Barcelona to Milan, Barcelona won the CL the following season. One year, after the Swede was knocked out of the tournament again, he summed it all up with a now famous quote:
– I do everything to win that damn Champions.
But that has not been the case. But this year it could, theoretically, have happened. Milan have made it all the way to the semi-finals against local rivals Inter, but Zlatan Ibrahimovic? He is, inexplicably, not even in the squad. Something that made Kim Källström react in C More’s studio.
– It’s some kind of irony. He was not registered and so he ends up in this situation, says the expert and national team icon.
“Incredibly sour”
Kim Källström then went on to say what everyone thinks about Ibrahimovic – namely how absurd it would be if Milan were to reach the final and win, then without Zlatan in the squad.
– Milan can go to the final or win, this is really alive, and then not really getting to participate in this is incredibly sad.
In the studio was also the expert and AIK icon Henok Goitom, who agrees with Källström.
– What may have shaken the skull is that when he was at Inter and Barcelona, he chased the Champions League. But then after a while he felt that he can’t win the Champions League. Now it goes back again, now he has the chance to win, but now he is not registered. It shakes the head a little, says Goitom.
Milan lost the first semi-final meeting against Inter 0-2.
