Killing pigeons at Utrecht Central Station under discussion: unnecessary or do they tackle the spread of disease?

Killing pigeons at Utrecht Centraal under discussion unnecessary or dangerous
Saskia Oskam of the Party for the Animals finds the approach to pigeons at the station unnecessary. She asked questions about it to the college of Utrecht. “The diseases that pigeons may carry are not or hardly dangerous for humans,” says Oskam. She points to recent research from Germany† “In addition, as the Party for the Animals, we naturally find it unacceptable that animals that have the misfortune to walk into the station are killed because of all the food that people leave behind.”
