Kiev is once again preparing for a new night in the throes of cannons – here are five key events from today

Kiev is once again preparing for a new night in

Russia’s attack is not far off on Saturday. Several other countries have reacted: numerous states have closed their airspace to Russian planes, and Germany has since decided to send aid to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian capital, Kiev, is once again preparing for a night in the middle of a war.

More than 190 civilians have been killed in the attack so far, Ukrainian officials said on Saturday.

The UN estimates that more than 120,000 Ukrainians have fled their homes abroad. The number may be higher, as Poland said it had already received more than 100,000 in the afternoon, and refugees have also arrived in Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.

We put together the most important events of the day.

1. Germany shall supply arms to Ukraine from its own stockpiles

The German government says it will supply a thousand anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine. The weapons come from German army depots.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholzin according to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a turning point in history.

– It is our duty to do our best and to support Ukraine in its defense [Vladimir] Against Putin’s offensive army, Scholz told AFP news agency.

The weapons are due to be delivered “as soon as possible,” according to the government’s statement, according to AFP.

Germany announced earlier today that it will approve 400 zinc exports from the Netherlands to Ukraine. Permission is required because these weapons were purchased from Germany.

2. The streets of Kiev will be closed until Monday

The mayor of Kiev has imposed a curfew, which will run from Saturday night to Monday morning without breaks, according to Reuters news agency.

Earlier today, a daily night curfew was announced every day from 5 to 8 p.m.

A strict ban on movement is necessary, according to the mayor’s office, as the bombed and fired city must be “cleansed of enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups.”

3. This is how the attack progressed on Saturday

Russia has so far failed to take over any Ukrainian city, although its forces have approached Kiev and Kharkov, which is close to the Russian border, according to AFP news agency.

– We have withstood and fought enemy attacks successfully. The fighting continues, said the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyi in a video message from the streets of Kiev.

Russian forces in Ukraine, and especially north of Kiev, have not progressed as well as they would have liked, and there has been extremely resolute resistance against them, U.S. and British defense officials say, according to Reuters.

In addition to the resistance of Ukrainians, logistical problems are considered to be the cause.

According to official data, Putin has tied more than 50 percent of Russian troops to the attack on Ukraine.

4. No negotiations on a ceasefire

Russia accuses Ukraine of “prolonging the crisis” because Ukraine said Russia would have refused to negotiate, Reuters and AFP report.

According to an adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Ukraine has not refused to negotiate.

– We support ceasefire negotiations, not threatening demands, the adviser says according to Reuters.

5. Several countries closed their airspace to Russia – and Russia responded

Russia is banning airlines from Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic from using Russian airspace, the Russian aviation authority said. This is the equivalent of similar measures in these countries.

To date, the Baltic states, Britain, Bulgaria, Poland, Romania, Slovenia and the Czech Republic have closed their airspace to Russian planes.
