Key point in earthquake response: The list of needs can change quickly

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

There is an aid mobilization to meet the needs in the earthquake region, where great pain is experienced all over Turkey at the moment.

Dr. Feyza Şahinyazan, who has been working on humanitarian aid logistics for many years, made the following warnings about the aid campaigns launched in Turkey after the earthquake: found:

– Uncoordinated in-kind aids (blankets, heaters, etc.) should not be rushed. Adding the weather opposition, it is very important that the highways that remain intact are as open as possible.

– Maybe you want to jump in the car, to create a charity truck or convoy from your institution in your own neighborhood in case we can be useful. However, it may do more harm than good in this critical process.

– A province needs a blanket today, it ends until your help goes, another need begins. Your aids also block the way, they cannot be transferred to another center, there are many examples of this. We can use our resources and energy much more efficiently.

– First of all, unfortunately, let’s face the fact that these wounds will not heal in a few days, and let’s spread our energy and opportunities.

– Let’s give cash aid instead of in-kind aid to the institutions we trust.

– If possible, instead of a one-time big donation, let’s be a regular donor for a while, automatic payment will not be forgotten if we forget.

– Requirements list up-to-date can change very quickly, let’s not create information pollution by spreading them.

The last item is particularly important here. After basic needs a more accurate help would be financial support.. Because financial support can be used to quickly meet more specific needs, theft can be prevented. For financial support links here you can visit.

Here’s what to do about the transportation process:

– Warehouses should be created in the assembly areas and basic necessities (blankets, heaters, sleeping bags, shoes, women’s pads, diapers, water, etc.) should be added and the victims should be moved to these areas.

– Each province should have its own centers, also called hubs, and the managers of these centers should list the materials needed. Those lists should be forwarded to the necessary authorities and aid should be given accordingly. Basic needs should also be distributed to aid zones from these centers.

– Within the scope of social responsibility projects, another suggestion could be that each company organizes a certain percentage of their warehouses in order to stockpile the basic needs of the disaster victims.

– In order not to give way to opportunists, aid should be given to organizations that are sure of their reliability. Because providing the logistics of aid is not as simple as we can do alone.

– Need lists should be checked and product aids should be made according to them.
